Is the Subaru BRZ STI being teased really only a tS version?

Filed under: Coupe , Performance , Scion , Subaru , Toyota , Rumormill Teaser images of a purported Subaru BRZ STI were uncovered last night and sent the internet into a collective state of hysterics. That’s not hugely surprising, though, considering the reverence that the BRZ, along with its fraternal twins, the Scion FR-S and Toyota GT86, have garnered from the automotive media. The sole sticking point, really, has been its mere 200 horsepower. People have been chomping at the bit over a higher output version of the sublime rear driver. Those same people may be in for a disappointment, though. See, the BRZ STI that was teased last night might not be a real STI. Instead, it’s looking like it might be a BRZ tS. According to 7Tune.com , the timing of the photos posted on Subaru’s website lined up with Subaru’s 86 Festival at Fuji Speedway , where the Subaru BRZ tS debuted. Despite wearing STI badges, the tS isn’t the full-tilt STI model we’ve been hoping for. Instead, you can think of the relationship between tS models and STI models as sort of like the difference between a BMW 3 Series M Sport and a BMW M3.

Filed under: Truck , Toyota , First Drives Raising A White Flag To The Competition We all benefit from highly competitive battles. In the automotive sector, few campaigns are so closely fought as the decades-long struggle for supremacy in the fullsize half-ton pickup truck segment. The Ford F-150 has dominated for ages, but Chevrolet , Ram and GMC have been closing the gap with freshly redesigned trucks that are rocking the industry. Today’s half-ton trucks are better than they’ve ever been, and we have fierce competition to thank for that. But where does the segment leave a truck from an automaker that has chosen to no longer fight and deliver its best product? What kind of vehicle comes from a company that has relinquished any desire to strive for the top of the class – one who is now content offering nothing more than minor updates and mediocrity in an aim to placate brand loyalists? Such a calculated underachiever would look a lot like the 2014 Toyota Tundra . Continue reading 2014 Toyota Tundra 2014 Toyota Tundra originally appeared on Autoblog on Tue, 30 Jul 2013 11:57:00 EST. 2014 Toyota Corolla coming Thursday, now with LED headlamps

Filed under: Sedan , Toyota , Design/Style Here’s what we know about the redesigned 2014 Toyota Corolla : It will have “aggressive new styling” with “available seventeen-inch alloy wheels” an “available touch screen audio” system and “available LED headlights.” We know all of this because Toyota has seen fit to release a small assortment of teaser images of the 2014 Corolla, with those descriptions attached. The latest to hit the web shows LED lighting clusters, which, to Toyota’s credit, don’t appear to merely mimic designs already seen in the automotive world. We should point out that the headlights do share a link to the units seen on the Furia Concept that was supposed to foreshadow the next Corolla, though the most interesting bits – namely the honeycomb inner pattern – have been chucked while the somewhat trapezoidal main units remain intact. Check out all four 2014 Toyota Corolla teasers in our image gallery above, and stay tuned for the live reveal on Thursday. 2014 Toyota Corolla coming Thursday, now with LED headlamps originally appeared on Autoblog on Tue, 04 Jun 2013 09:32:00 EST.
