Filed under: Concept Cars , Convertible , Performance , Geneva Motor Show , Toyota There’s nothing wrong with going topless. And Toyota is proving that its FT-86 (read: Scion FR-S / Toyota GT86 / Subaru BRZ ) coupe is just as excellent with its roof removed. It may only be a concept, but this FT-86 Open previews a new droptop from the Japanese automaker to round out the Toyobaru sports car family. We’re finally getting the chance to see the open-air FT-86 in person here at the Geneva Motor Show , and we’re already yearning to take it canyon-carving. Interestingly, the FT-86 retains the Toyota coupe’s two-plus-two seating arrangement (we’d prefer a proper roadster setup here), but things still look good for this droptop two-door. We’ll be curious to see how the car looks with its folding soft top in place (operated by fancy-shmancy electronics, by the way). As for production intent, rumors have been flying about a production Scion FR-S convertible, but until we hear it directly from Toyota. Consider our hopes in check but our fingers crossed. Filed under: Sedan , Marketing/Advertising , Videos , Toyota You know those Toyota commercials that we never get, the ones aired in distant lands like Australia and Brazil and that are, oh, interesting? We’re finally getting one. Toyota is returning to Super Bowl advertising after a three-year hiatus with a 30-second version of this longer-form 60-second spot for the 2012 Camry , and we think it’s amusing enough to be worthy of The Big Game. This is a continuation of the reinvention theme introduced in the first 2012 Camry ad last year, and this commercial adds some comedy, a welcome change from Toyota’s typically sober marketing campaigns. Toyota will also air a second 30-second spot during the NFL’s championship game. Check it out in long form (along with the official press release) after the jump . Now, we’re finally getting a look at the Subaru version. Spy photogs snapped the two-door Subie undergoing some road testing. The style is similar to the Scion we’ve been seeing , but the Subaru appears to get a different front-end treatment. Though most of the important bits and pieces are well-covered by all the swirly graphics, the spy photographers did manage to grab a shot of the interior of the coupe. A paddle shifter is clearly visible , and we hope to eventually spy a version with a manual transmission as well. Check out all of the spy shots of the Subaru coupe by clicking through the gallery below.
