Filed under: Motorsports , Audi , Porsche , Toyota , Racing As is so often the case, the 2014 Le Mans was a war of attrition, and Audi managed to prevail once again after all 24 hours had been recorded in the history books, with its Audi R18 E-Tron Quattro claiming first and second places, followed by Toyota in third. Drivers Marcel Fassler, Andre Lotterer and Benoit Treluyer inherited the lead in their No. 2 Audi after the No. 7 Toyota, driven by pole-sitter Kazuki Nakajima, was forced to retire with electrical problems in the 15th hour. The No. 2 Audi led the race until it was forced to the pits to replace a turbocharger in the 17th hour, allowing the No. 1 Audi, driven by Lucas di Grassi, Marc Gene (who was a last-minute replacement for Loic Duval, who crashed hard during practice) and defending champion Tom Kristensen, led the race until the 21st hour, when it too had to pit with turbocharger issues. This gave the No. 20 Porsche of Timo Bernhard, Brendon Hartley, and Mark Webber the lead until it was forced off the track with gearbox problems, eventually finishing in 38th position. In LMP2, the Jota Sport Zytek Z11SN-Nissan driven by Simon Dolan, Harry Tincknell and Oliver Turvey claimed victory, the first five LMP2 finishers all powered by Nissan .

He tried to get me all the way up to the wall and I think he got himself loose by trying to squish me into the wall. We had a good run down the back and some good laps after that. It was a solid run.

Indianapolis Results HUNTERSVILLE, N.C. (March 13, 2011) – A huge crowd of 60,789 was in attendance for round 10 of the AMA Supercross Championship at Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis, Ind. The fans not in the stadium were able to watch the action live on SPEED. All season Davi Millsaps and Justin Brayton have been fortunate to transfer into the main events from their heat races skipping the dreaded last chance qualifier, and last night was no exception as they both went directly to the main from the heats. When the gate fell for the main event Brayton and Millsaps began the race inside the top-10. Millsaps charged into fifth position with Brayton just behind during the early laps. Millsaps slid out on the loose track surface briefly going down. After re-mounting, still in the top-10 he came up short over a triple jump jamming his wrist and thumb. With more than half the race to go, Millsaps soldiered through the remaining laps to earn 11th. Meanwhile, by lap eight, Brayton had raced into fifth position.

VICKERS BACK IN THE GROOVE

VICKERS BACK IN THE GROOVE Three races down in the 2011 NASCAR Sprint Cup Series season, with his first top-10 finish in the bag, it seems like business as usual for Red Bull Racing Toyota Camry driver Brian Vickers as he heads to the Bristol Motor Speedway for this weekend’s Jeff Byrd 500. But, after losing most of the 2010 season recuperating from blood clots that threatened his career, Vickers is savoring every moment of a return to doing what he loves best – racing a stock car. Getting back in his No. 83 Camry to start the 2011 Sprint Cup season at Daytona had always been his target since being diagnosed with the condition in May of last year, so getting the clearance to race again was huge. Yet, coming so close to losing the thing he’s most passionate about has certainly left its mark on him. “Going through this is definitely going to change my perspective,” he says. “I think what I went through changed me more personally. It changed who I am and I grew a lot as a person. I still have a lot of growing to do and I am sure there are plenty of people who would point that out, but I definitely took a big step up the ladder through this experience. “I have no doubt that going through this experience and how it’s changed me personally is going to show up on the race track.
