Filed under: Videos , Toyota There are vehicles that, fair or not, will forever be associated with jerky drivers . But as this very recent footage from an in-car camera shows, even the most mundane of sedans can be piloted by an ass. In this video, the driver of one very beige Toyota Camry is driving like a person choked with rage. Though we don’t see which (if any) actions by our camera car might have lead up to the tirade, we do see the Camry driver swerving from lane to lane, in multiple attempts to get in front of and brake check the couple in the recording. According to the text associated with the YouTube video, the offending incident took place last week, on a section of I-880 near Fremont, CA. The uploader has gone so far as to include the date, time and license plate number of the Camry driver, in hopes, we guess, that some kind of legal action can be taken against him. Take a closer look for yourself in the video below . Filed under: Marketing/Advertising , Audi , Mercedes-Benz , Toyota , Volkswagen After Sunday’s big game, YouTube will be the place to watch every commercial that you missed when you left your seat for an emergency guac refill or, as we say in Cleveland, took the Browns to the Super Bowl. That makes YouTube the nation’s water cooler on Monday, and it’s got some preliminary stats to share in the lead up to kickoff. As you know, Super Bowl advertisers, particularly automakers, like to endlessly tease their big budget commercials in the weeks before the game, many times revealing them outright days in advance. Because of this, YouTube can tell us which commercials have been viewed the most so far, and their top five list is all automakers. Kaley Cuoco appears to have been a good investment for Toyota, as her ad for the RAV4 has garnered the most YouTube views – six million and counting – among Super Bowl commercials so far. Second place goes to Mercedes-Benz, though not its actual Super Bowl commercial, but rather the teaser for it. You know, the one with Kate Upton and the car washing , which is up to 5.6 million views. Third place is Audi’s Prom commercial (3.3M views), fourth goes to Volkswagen’s slightly controversial Get In, Get Happy ad (3.3M views), and the fifth and final spot is bookended by the teaser video for Kaley Cuoco’s commercial (3.2M views). You can watch all five in order below . The data above is current and official as of 10:00 AM EST today, though things are changing quickly.

Such is the joy of a DVR and YouTube. AdWeek tabulated the 20 most-watched ads on YouTube, and found that nine were car-related including eight coming from automakers. Volkswagen continued its Star Wars theme with two ads in the top 20, including the highest-ranking car commercial The Bark Side spot at number three with almost 18 million views, which doesn’t even have a single car in it. Some of our favorites are from Chrysler with Clint Eastwood in It’s Halftime in America and House Arrest with Charlie Sheen for the Fiat 500 Abarth . Chevrolet , Honda , Audi and Toyota were the other automakers in the top 20, but we’d be remiss if we didn’t at least mention one of the coolest ads on the list, the Hot Wheels corkscrew jump . Of all the car videos, only the Fiat ad wasn’t played during a Super Bowl. Check out all eight videos – in order – after the jump . Nike took the top spot with its My Time is Now ad that has been seen online more than 20 million times with Pepsi’s Uncle Drew posted up in the runner-up; some of the other videos include four Old Spice commercials and an ad in which Snoop Dogg is pedaling Hot Pockets. But in this corner of the world, before Scion went mature, we remember when it had hip, DJ-driven spots with editing as edgy as the image it was trying to promote. Which brings us to this 30-second spec ad, created by YouTube users Marcus Stokes and Marko Mandaric. Heavy on the bass and VFX, it pitches the FR-S in Scion’s original style. And even though the FR-S is the easy offering to slot in, we suspect the vibe might do favors for the tC and, pushing things, even the iQ simply because it’s so left-field. So while we try and figure out whether the FR-S means Scion’s got its goove back, you can check out the video below . Continue reading Would this commercial make you want to buy a Scion? Filed under: Etc. , Japan , Marketing/Advertising , Videos , Hatchback , Toyota How do you follow up androgyny ? With a Spanking Orchestra, obviously. Proving that the 2013 Toyota Auris has depths we haven’t begun to comprehend, Toyota’s Japanese ad agency has followed up the head-turning spot with Stav Strashko by kitting an Auris out with “spanking machines” and putting it on display at the Daikanyama Art Street festival. The machines are computer-controlled hands that tap (or spank, if you prefer) the car to the programmed beat. As if that weren’t enough, two pairs of free-standing hands, with arms, clap time at either end of the car. If there’s a meaning to it, we’re not aware of it, but it’s fascinating to watch. It isn’t often – actually, never – that we get to say, “Ladies and gentlemen, we present The Spankers.” You’ll find them below , and the action begins in the first video at the 2:40 mark. The story is no different in the Philippines, where a troupe of GT 86 coupes starred in a precision driving and drifting display at an airfield. Put together by Toyota Philippines, the video was helmed by Sid Maderazo, the same gent who brought us the supercar extravaganza at Subic Bay called The Mile . Filed under: Hybrid , Marketing/Advertising , Videos , Hatchback , Toyota The curtain’s been lifted on the ad campaign for the Toyota Prius C , and it’s all about the game of life via the boardgame The Game of Life. The first spot is called Malti-poo and in it’s ad-speaky way it targets “city-dwelling millennials” as it “demonstrates key vehicle attributes in a fun and approachable way.” It “embodies the youthful spirit of the vehicle and offers creative content that integrates this iconic childhood game” while it also “offers visual tools and easy ways to share digestible information and collect opinions.” In English: it’s trying to hook first-time car buyers on the notable features of the Prius C in inventive ways. Case in point: the Malti-poo spot will be followed by one called “Dolphin Tattoo,” and platforms will include broadcast television, print, consumer experience and a YouTube channel that provides car buying and financial advice. See below for the ad and the press release describing the campaign.
